Knowing Ann . . .

If you know me, then YOU KNOW ME!  I’m a fairly open and open-minded person, always in pursuit of a new experience.  After discovering the fiber arts when I returned to college (more than ten years ago), I was hooked.

Much of my work uses my image-ination to create image-based art.  Starting with a great photo, I manipulate it in Photoshop Elements, print it on fabric, and build it into an art quilt.

I’m an organizer.  If you’ve worked with me on  Fabled Fibers,  or through Quiltart.com and PAQA-South then you know how I love to create, not only fiber art, but exhibitions of the art as well.  Some of the exhibits and challenges I’ve worked on are FABLED FIBERS:  Art Quilt Enchantments, E Pluribus Unum, ARTQUILTScultures, and ARTQUILTSmarkings.  Currently, I am on the PAQA-South exihibits committee for ARTQUILTStransitions and hosting the Quiltart.com challenge EPU II:  Cultures in Cloth.

And I could not forget to mention Operation Kid Comfort.  Founded with the Armed Services YMCA of Fort Bragg and Pope AFB in North Carolina, on Make A Difference Day, October 25, 2003, Operation Kid Comfort has provided thousands of photo-transfer quilts to America’s Littlest Heroes, the children of our deployed service men and women, from Fort Drum, NY to San Diego Naval Base, CA and overseas in Germany.  To think…it all started with a quilt I made for my grandson.  You just never know the difference a simple act of love will make.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me with questions about  my work, the exhibits I’ve worked on, or Operation Kid Comfort:  strandsofimagination@gmail.com.  And don’t be shy about comments — I’d love to hear from you!
